Thamizh Desiya Munnani leaders arrested by Neyveli police

Mr. Maniarasan, convener of Tamil Desiya Munnani alongwith 200 others has been taken to nearby Kalyana mandapam around 1.30 pm today and kept into custody by the police.

Thamizh Desiya Munnani began a padayatra from the Grand Anaicut [Kalanai] in Thanjavur District on December 13 and planned to reach Neyveli today to siege the thermal station-II, demanding stoppage of power supply to Karnataka. But on reaching the border of Neyveli this morning, the police stopped them and taken into custody.

TDM demanding release Cauvery water as per the interim award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal from Karnataka.

Earlier, Namalvar, agriculture expert, and Kuppusamy of the Cauvery Protection committee inaugrated the padayatra. The members covered Thirukattupalli, Naducauvery, Kandiyur, Ayyampettai, Papanasam, Valangaiman, Kumbakonam, Aduthurai, Kuttalam, Mayiladuturai, Sirkazhi, Kollidam, Chidambaram, Orathur, Sethiathoppu, Pinnalur and Vadalur and reached Neyveli this morning.
