Short-sighted politicians in power have failed to realise that allowing Mr. Kofi Annan to visit the victims of the Tsunami, especially in the worst affected areas would have had less impact than not allowing him. Now it is too late for the government to rectify their mistake. Mr. Kofi Annan’s promise is the only salvation to the victims of tsunami in the affected North East. "I'm hoping to come back... and see all parts of the country and be of help to accelerate the peace process," he told reporters before his departure from Sri Lanka. - More...In English  : In Tamil

Sri Lanka govt. failed in "Confidence Building" strategy. They should let Annan to visit all the affected area but they didnt. Their failure will be put in a question mark and it's a prove the govt. is not sincere to build a peace and harmony nation. They talk about the peace but they failed to put it in actions. Tsunami is the biggest chances to build the confidence among both parties but govt. failed to do that.

I was disgusted to hear that the Sri Lankan Government restricted UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan, from visiting LTTE-conrolled areas worst affected by the Tsunami. At a time when the whole world is mourning and supporting each other to get through this devastating tragedy, the Sri Lankan Government has shown its true face. If the international community still cannot see through the lies of the GoSL, then peace is going to be a long way away.
